What Is Chiropractic

“Taking a natural systematic approach”

Chiropractic is a natural, drug-free, surgical-free profession that focuses on the relationship between the spinal bones and the nerve system. If the nerve system is functioning well then all of the systems of the body will function optimally.

However, when nerve flow is disrupted or distorted because of misalignments in the spine, the body isn't able to communicate with itself properly, which is when impairment or dysfunction occurs.

A spinal bone out of alignment is known as subluxation, which creates pressure on nerves and distorts the information to and from the brain.

You have most likely been taught to think that chiropractic is some kind of treatment for back and neck pain...etc. It's true, we do see a number of patients suffering with a variety of such problems. More importantly though, is the recognition that chiropractic is much more than the simple relief of pain. You may be amazed to learn that most problems that surface in the adult years actually start because of the birth process because it's so traumatic. How many of you have been through this?!

That is the reason we place so much emphasis on children and their growth and development. Your child's spine is his or her lifeline. Running through it is the spinal cord carrying billions of messages which make the body function correctly. It is like having your own internal Internet! It is vital to make certain that this "information highway" has no obstacles so that all messages sent by the brain get where they are going. If there is an obstruction in this highway, then the body starts to malfunction. This can be a serious threat to life and health.

Chiropractors call these obstructions "Vertebral Subluxations" - misalignments of some of the spinal vertebrae (spinal bones).

You need to remember that the body is a self-healing organism - it is designed to heal itself. This means that it has the ability to heal and recover, no matter what the condition - as long as that process is not interfered with. For an example, you get a brand new liver every month or so. Yes, liver cells die and are replaced by new ones. Your red blood cells die every four months and are replaced by new cells - even your skeleton changes approximately every seven years. In other words, your body is designed to heal, and it follows a very exact program to be able to do this.

That program is controlled by your nervous system. As long as your nervous system is able to effectively communicate with every tissue, cell, organ, and nook and cranny of your body, you should have the very best health possible. If your nervous system is not able to communicate with your cells, tissues, etc., your body will not have the ability to do what it is designed to do. We call this "malfunction". It can be very serious. Our mission is to eliminate this communication breakdown and restore law and order!

It's that simple!
